Beautiful photos. I love MSP arboretum.
After years of fighting I gave on tulips I’m my yard. Every year deers just chomp bloom leaving just leaves.
Single one that survived
How did I not know you're from Minnesota? 😊 I'm in the same boat with tulips - for me it's rabbits that eat them as soon as they start to emerge. They leave daffodils alone, so I have a number of those scattered around my yard.
@smartasswoman
Deers and rabbits both. At least dears srop eating in late spring rabbits don’t stop ever 😡
@EnyojLife haha no they don't - and I was commenting yesterday that the bunnies seem to have made my yard their refuge, since all of the houses around me have dogs.
@smartasswoman
And nothing really works and they are not afraid at all. I sometimes get really close before they flee. 😡
But that’s nature rabbits must eat too 🤷♂️
WOW!!!! The flowers are incredible!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
I am sorry you had to fight crowds though. I really avoid crowds anymore. You were brave.
Ha, I had no idea when I set out. It’s a 25 mile drive so it’s not like I was going to turn around when I saw the line of cars going out to the highway. 😊
Lovely
It's a challenge I know all too well. Even worse at Christmas, with low-light and long exposures.
But you got some good ones here.
Yes, you might recall that I hit up the photography night at the Arboretum for their Christmas lights display. It is possible that I was the only person there with a phone instead of a fancy camera haha!
Beautiful pics!
Beautiful flowers and pics .....love the two toned ones. Wow. Looks like a lovely day for it all. Yea....the weather ,the flowers just invites the photo shoot crews. We have a place that invites people to do so.....for whatever occasion. They do it for the sunflower fields too later in the season. Such a pretty time a year....a rebirth of things~
i just bought a bunch or purple and a bunch of yellow tulips today .....
I was chatting with a friend that the Arboretum should set up a special day for photographers. They do that when they have a big Christmas lights display - one evening is set aside and people pay extra to be able to be there and take pictures when it's not crowded.
Beautiful display of tulips.
This weekend is the end of the week long Tulip Festival in Holland, MI. I went once and now I go a day or two beforehand or when it ends...depending on how the blooms are.
You go before or after to avoid the crowds? (Smart)
Wow! The tulips are gorgeous!
The park at the baseball stadium has a tulip garden that blooms around the time one of the early blooming varieties of cherry blossoms bloom. I saw people trying to get pics with their pups.
I appreciate the public facilities that go to the trouble to plant tulip gardens. I've given up on it because the really showy ones have to be replanted every year - and most of the time the bunnies eat them as soon as they emerge, anyway.
@smartasswoman
My sister's tulips seem to have survived the deer 😂
I had thought about driving up to Pella, IA for their big tulip festival but with the super early spring we had in the lower midwest, their festival actually fell towards the end of the bloom peak so I talked myself out of it. Thanks for sharing the lovely tulips from your neck of the woods. Always better to hit those places during the work day if you can to avoid at least a few of the crowds.
We had early spring here too, but somehow I'm thinking this bloom peak isn't TOO far off from normal. I wonder if they have records somewhere...
Tulips are beautiful flowers.
Tulips, lilacs, and crabapple trees combine to make May one of my favorite months.
Words I've never used together in a sentence: Arboretum and Sunday.
You're brave. 🤗
Great close-up pics.👍
Yes, given that I'm retired and can go any day, I'm not sure what I was thinking. 😊
I'm happy they had the chance to make some money on admissions. It's probably one of their highest revenue weeks of the year, maybe only rivaled by peak fall colors.
The ones with color stripes are the highly prized ones during tulip mania. The color change is from a bacteria.
Interesting. I do like the randomness of the striping on those.
Great pictures you should have a few of you
I don't often post pictures of myself here.
Great pics
Just beautiful
